MEET IAN & GEORGIE

G'day from lan and my bestie Georgie.

Strong50 began with a simple belief: strength has no age limit.

I'm building Strong50 as an affordable online movement and wellness platform for women and men of all ages - with accessible yoga, mobility, strength and fitness programs designed to help people keep moving, stay stronger and enjoy more choices in life.

Georgie has been beside me through plenty of the journey and has become part of the Strong50 story too.

THE FOUNDER STORY

IAN PORTER

Sport has always been part of my life. ‎

At school, I competed at state level in swimming and became Senior School Overall Athletics Champion. I also played soccer for many years as a goalkeeper, winning multiple championships, with my last premiership coming at age 40. ‎‎

In 1997, I was part of VISION, the team that won the Australian 4-Way Skydiving Championship, shortly before I moved to Vietnam to build my business life.

But STRONG50 is not about past trophies. ‎‎‎

Like many people, life, business, pressure and responsibility eventually became the priority. Fitness never disappeared completely, but it changed. The years moved quickly. The body changed. The excuses became easier. ‎‎‎

Looking back, what initially appeared to be one of life's biggest challenges became an opportunity. Bali provided the environment, lifestyle and perspective that allowed me to focus more deeply on health, wellbeing and what truly matters as we transition through the second half of life. ‎‎‎

In many ways, STRONG50 was born from that mindset change. It reminded me that while we cannot always control the circumstances life presents us, we can choose how we respond to them. ‎‎‎

And one day I realised that strength was no longer something to talk about from the past. It was something I had to prioritise and choose again.

"STRENGTH WAS NO LONGER SOMETHING TO TALK ABOUT FROM THE PAST. IT WAS SOMETHING TO CHOOSE AGAIN."

— IAN PORTER, FOUNDER

At 69 Years Young, I am not trying to prove anything to anyone else. I simply want to become the best version of myself that I can be. As part of this journey, I completed my first HYROX event in Jakarta on 27 June 2026 at age 69. ‎‎‎‎

It was difficult, imperfect and real — exactly what STRONG50 represents. ‎‎‎‎

I am now preparing for HYROX Melbourne and continuing to build STRONG50 one small choice at a time.‎‎‎‎

STRONG50 is not about becoming the biggest, strongest or most muscular person in the room. ‎‎‎‎

STRONG50 is about building and maintaining the internal mechanics of your body so that you can continue to move well, remain independent and enjoy an active life as you age. For some people that may mean improving strength. For others it may mean improving mobility, balance, flexibility, cardiovascular fitness or overall wellbeing. ‎‎‎‎

The goal is not perfection. ‎‎‎‎

The goal is to become a stronger, healthier and more capable version of yourself.

FOR ME, STRENGTH IS NOT JUST PHYSICAL.

IT IS CONFIDENCE.

IT IS MOBILITY.

IT IS ENERGY.

IT IS PURPOSE.

IT IS THE ABILITY TO KEEP SAYING YES TO LIFE.

One of the most significant mindset lessons I ever learned came from hearing Clint Eastwood say:

"DON'T LET THE OLD MAN IN."

Interestingly, I drove through Carmel, California in 1986 when Clint Eastwood was Mayor. What I remember most was not his celebrity status, but how highly local residents spoke of his honesty, leadership and character. That memory stayed with me long before I ever heard the phrase that would later become one of my guiding principles.‎

Today, those words —"Don't let the old man in"— are saved on my computer desktop as a daily reminder that, as we biologically age, Strength = Choice becomes even more important.‎

Or, as I often say to myself:

KEEP THE OLD MAN OUT.

Not denying age. ‎
Not pretending I am 25 again.

‎But refusing to quietly surrender to stiffness, weakness, low energy and the belief that my best years are behind me.

However, this philosophy is not just for people in their 50s, 60s, 70s and beyond. Nor is it limited to men. STRONG50 is for women and men of all ages. In many ways, it is even more relevant for women and men in their 20s, 30s and 40s. The choices we make today regarding our health, fitness, mobility, nutrition and mindset help shape the quality of our lives tomorrow. ‎

Whether you are 30, 50 or 90, there is no better time to choose strength than today. That is why the STRONG50 message is simple:

We may not control our age, but we absolutely can choose how we move, how we eat, how we think, how we recover and how we show up each day. STRONG50 exists for people who want to start again, keep going, or simply make one better choice today than they made yesterday.

Because strength is for everyone. ‎
Because strength has no age limit.

STRENGTH = CHOICE.

FROM JAKARTA TO MELBOURNE

ONE SMALL CHOICE. A STRONGER YOU
